After completing his studies in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1983, Stelios Kozakos started working in one of the Big Four Audit firms gaining experience in the audit and assurance of various fields and industries, including banking and insurance. Stelios Kozakos remained in that position until 1988 when he joined the Inland Revenue of Cyprus as a Principal Tax Accessor.

In the same year, Stelios Kozakos was also elected as a member of the council of the ICPAC where he served for a period of three years. In 1990 he established his own audit firm, and at the same time he was acting as a Financial Controller for five years in a Public Insurance Company in Cyprus obtaining a vast experience in the insurance industry. To date, having gained tax experience through the Inland Revenue of Cyprus, he continues as a tax consult-ant advising wealthy individuals and companies. He also acts as a consultant in International Tax Planning.
